Fiona is our first golden retriever and taught us about the true golden heart. Purchased as a pet, she has become so much more to us. Through training her as a therapy dog, we all grew and benefited. She helped introduce a program for schools on interacting safely with dogs.
Lauren was introduced to the world of competition obedience and rally through her training with Fiona. Her wickedly smart nature made rally a fun way to occupy her brain and bond with her people. Fiona is the first dog we titled and continues to entertain us daily.
In early 2016, just before her 4th birthday, Fiona was diagnosed with a Mast Cell Tumor and underwent a successful surgery to remove it. After narrowly escaping a rear leg amputation, we decided to get Fiona involved in some new sports for exercise.
Dock diving and lure coursing are her latest interests and she received her CA title in September 2016 and her dock novice title in the summer of 2017.
She proves to us daily that blondes can be smart...but stubborn. Her nicknames are "The Great White" and "White Lightening" because of the speed and tenacity with which she will steal your food. Her favorite? Muffins of any flavor!
